About

Pam Doran (She, Her) is a SUNY Empire 2021-22 PRODiG Scholar and Doctoral Student. A first generation college gtraduate, she is an ISTE-certified educator/trainer, a certification recognizing proficiency in implementing technology to enhance teaching and learning outcomes. Pam is a Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC), a credential that demonstrates her comprehensive understanding of digital accessibility principles, laws, and best practices. Additionally, she is a DHS Trusted Tester, which certifies her to evaluate digital content for compliance with WCAG and Section 508 accessibility standards. She holds a Master of Arts in learning and emerging technology from SUNY Empire University and graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in educational studies focusing on educational technology. She has received the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Student Excellence in 2023 and won the Future Leaders in Policy Competition at the Rockefeller Institute in 2022.

Pam serves as the Digital Accessibility Coordinator at SUNY Empire State University. With years of experience in IT and web design, she specializes in accessible design, following WCAG guidelines and ADA 508 standards. She is also an expert in machine translation of languages other than English with generative AI. She led in creating Project Code Spring, a coding and STEM initiative at the Desmond-Fish Public Library, where she helped design and develop its Innovation and Learning Center.

 

Pam is an aerospace education member of the Civil Air Patrol. This congressionally chartered, federally supported non-profit corporation serves as the official civilian auxiliary of the United States Air Force. She is also an ISTE (International Society for Technology in Education)- certified instructor, a certification that highlights her ability to integrate digital learning tools to improve educational experiences.

She worked as a research assistant for Dr. Lila Rajabion, studying cybersecurity issues that arose with the shift to remote work during the COVID-19 pandemic. Her work focuses on identifying vulnerabilities, assessing the impact of security breaches, and developing preventative strategies. She also serves on SUNY Empire’s AI subcommittees for Research and Pedagogy. Pam’s other research interests include exploring how assistive technologies can empower non-English speakers to succeed in both K-12 and higher education environments by automating the translation of educational materials and conversations.

Pam lives in Columbia County, NY. She holds a black belt in tae kwon do and is a two-time national champion with the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU).
